The Trigona honey a Malaysian honey, is produced by stingless bee species i.e. Trigona, are derived from multi-floral foraging activity of bees.

 

It overcomes bacteria growth with a very strong growth inhibitory characteristic known as MIC the minimum inhibitory concentration which is defined as the lowest concentration of honey that prevents at least 99% of bacterial growth.

 

Another known benefit is the MBC factor defined as minimum bactericidal concentration which is defined as the lowest concentration of honey required to kill at least 99% of the bacteria.

 

Malaysian honey such as the Tualang and Gelam were found to perform lower and higher against various bacteria species in terms of MIC and MBC values, findings from Zainol, Mohd Yusof, and Mohd Yusof (2013)* found that Trigona honey appeared most consistent in inhibiting and killing bacteria regardless of their species.
